History, Mystery, and Romance!
I loved this book because it has all three of these genres in it that I love! I love historical fiction, and this did not disappoint! I enjoyed getting a different perspective on how each side of the civil war affected families. I enjoyed the mystery of the lost documents. I enjoyed seeing how romance would develop between different couples of the story! All in all, it was a great read and hard to put down!

My Daughter’s Legacy is the third book in the Cousins of the Dove series. I loved it! It can stand alone, but if you’ve read the first two in the series, you will find some loose ends tied up very nicely.
It contains two story lines in two different times: civil war and modern. There are several parallels in the stories. Both deal with women struggling with personal issues that seem out of sync with some family members. Underlying it all is a strong sense of legacy and how the truth impacts that.
Leslie Gould and Mindy Starns Clark do a masterful job of weaving these stories together and drawing them to a satisfying conclusion. Don’t miss this book!
This conclusion to the Cousins of the Dove series astounded me with so many different pieces woven together in the various story lines to form a satisfying, cohesive whole, not only of the third book, but the entire trilogy.
I enjoyed both the present-day developments, with the mystery and witnessing the characters grow, and the family history portion set during the Civil War. The skill of the authors to pull off such a fete showcases their amazing writing ability. The only part that didn’t quite resonate was the quick resolution of one of Nicole’s relationships. I felt like I was experiencing the situations along with the various persons peopling this dramatic novel. I hope the two writers partner for more books with such depth and authenticity.
I love how the two stories combined in one timeline. The authors have a great skills in storytelling, and there were no confusion on who is who, and what happens when. Two strong women in one bloodline, that’s a power of strong legacy and well-developed character. The details of the plot instantly transferred me into the story time.
Amazing book.
My Daughter’s Legacy was an amazing story with the time slip and how the characters’ lives were intertwined. This book was a page turner with all the history and characters that kept me spellbound while reading. The connection of ancestors and solving a mystery added depth along with an intriguing plot.
Mindy Starns Clark and Leslie Gould are a great team together. This is the first book I’ve read in the Cousins of the Dove series, which is actually the final book in the series. Now I must go back and read My Brother’s Crown and My Sister’s Prayer. Readers of historical fiction will find My Daughter’s Legacy filled with action, unexpected events and characters working together for a cause.
Mindy Starns Clark and Leslie Gould have collaborated on a number of novels. My Daughter’s Legacy is the third book in their Cousins of the Dove series. This novel is the story of two women, living decades apart. Nicole Talbot is a recovering addict determined to turn her life around and make something of it. Therese Jennings lives near Richmond, Virginia during the Civil War. They are connected by an ancient manuscript which has disappeared. This novel’s chapters bounce back and forth between Nicole in present day and Therese in Civil War era Richmond. What becomes a murder mystery to be solved by Nicole is strongly connected to the plantation where Therese’s family lives. The interaction between the two time frames is sometimes confusing, but leads the reader to the conclusive end.
This is a very intriguing book.

This was the third and final installment of the Cousins of the Dove series. It yielded an interesting and satisfying ending for me. The two authors did a great job going from 1864 Virginia to present day.
In this conclusion the mystery of the murder and why it was done is told and tied into that of the past. Both women were on the same grounds but over a hundred years apart. I loved how some of the mystery from the past was concluded in the present. I enjoyed all three novels but this one was my favorite.
