The “Fair Use” clause of U.S. copyright law allows brief excerpts of copyrighted material to be reproduced without written permission from the publisher, provided standard credit is given.
Harvest House guidelines for Non-Commercial Use:
No formal permission is required for use of a small number of quotes (500 words or less)
Examples of non-commercial use:
- Quoting material in a sermon or lecture
- Using an excerpt for church-related activities (small group study, newsletters, bulletins, programs, etc.)
- Photocopies for personal use
- Educational writings
- Quoting on a website, blog, or social media
A copyright notice must be included when quoting from a Harvest House work. A sample credit line is provided below:

Permission requests that exceed the guidelines stated above require written permission. To obtain permission in writing, the online form must be submitted.
Your request will be reviewed within 10-15 business days. Harvest House reserves the right to charge a fee for the use of material. Fees are determined internally based on the amount of material used along with the other information provided in the online form. Fees compensate the authors for the use of their published works.
Artwork or translation permissions require written permission and completion of the online form.
Translation Rights
Harvest House partners with publishers and missions’ organizations throughout the world to translate books into other languages. We contract directly with publishers, granting rights (both exclusive and non-exclusive) based on an agreed upon advance payment and royalty rate. Please supply the details of your request by completing the online form.
Requests from non-profit ministries and organizations are handled on a case by case basis. Please use the online form to make your request.
