What You Don’t See Might Hurt You
Every year, residents of the small Amish community in Monte Vista, Colorado, look forward to the Ski Hi Stampede, the state’s oldest professional rodeo. The rodeo is always good, clean entertainment for the hardworking farmers of the San Luis Valley. But this year, the Stampede turns deadly for one Amish man. Did rodeo fans see an unfortunate accident? Or something more sinister?
Amish bishop Henry Lapp is known far and wide for his uncanny ability to draw and remember the smallest details of anything he’s seen, skills that have served him well in past investigations. He was at the rodeo that day. The problem? He didn’t see Jeremiah Schwartz’s death.
With a murderer on the loose and members of his community being threatened, Henry must act fast. But can he solve a crime he didn’t see? This time around, Henry will have to rely on his keen sense of human character and observation, skills he’s honed in his role as bishop, if he hopes to crack the case.
Who the Bishop Knows is a story of accepting our talents, putting one another first, and trusting that God will care for His children.

It is no secret that Vannetta Chapman is a favorite author of mine. Her unique talent to create very unusual situations in such realistic ways, is one that grabs my attention as soon as I open each new book. This book was no exception! I became part of this compelling story of faith, friendship, and God’s power providing courage in the toughest times. This is a book that will keep the reader engrossed from beginning to end.
The characters are lovable, somewhat quirky, and entirely realistic and believable. Henry and Emma became part of my life as I walked alongside them through the hard, frightening journeys of their lives. Feeling every terror and struggle had me on the edge of my seat. The world passed me by as I read this mystery.
The plot has so many twists and turns that the reader is in shock at each new event. The quick action and movement towards solving the mystery is mind boggling!! Reading this book in a day and a half clearly describes my feelings about this tale. I could NOT put this book down! Bad things happen to the best folks!! Are they deserving of their struggles? No, indeed!! Does God get them through? You bet He does!! But I must end here!! No spoilers allowed!
Don’t miss this five star book! Vannetta has done it once again! A REAL WINNER!
